It's our second year working with Surf Office for our company offsite (30 pax first year, and 42 pax second year), and we're super happy! We recently organized our company offsite with SurfOffice, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. This was our second year working with Surf to plan our annual company retreat, and once again, they smashed it. We had a beautiful, restorative and fun retreat just outside of Barcelona that the whole team loved. Alberta stands out because teams can access world-famous mountain scenery within a few hours of major airports. In our experience hosting teams, Alberta works especially well for companies that want nature-driven activities without sacrificing good infrastructure, restaurants, and comfortable travel logistics.
Calgary is best for international access, nightlife, and larger company retreat venues in Alberta. Banff is the most popular option for mountain-focused offsites, while Canmore offers a quieter atmosphere with easier group logistics. Jasper works well for more remote retreats focused on nature and outdoor activities.
Most teams arrive through Calgary International Airport (YYC), which has direct flights from major North American and European cities. Banff is about a 1.5 hour drive from Calgary, while Canmore is slightly closer at around one hour. Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is useful for retreats near Jasper or northern Alberta.
June through September is the most popular period for outdoor-focused retreats, with temperatures typically between 60–80°F. Winter retreats are also common from December through March, especially for ski trips and cozy mountain lodge experiences.
