You’ll need: A list of challenges for teams to complete.

How to play:

  • Establish the boundaries of play, i.e. the confines of a large park.

  • Teams will work through the list, ticking off challenges as they complete them.
  • The first team that completes all the challenges (or the team that completes the most challenges after the time runs out) wins.

How to play

  1. Assemble your colleagues in a designated space where you have room to move.
  2. Choose one person to be the "Leader" and the rest as "Followers." The Leader stands at one end, and the Followers form a line facing them.
  3. The objective is for the Followers to reach the Leader without being caught moving when the Leader says "Red Light."
  4. The Leader begins walking away from the Followers, shouting "Green Light!" This is the signal for Followers to advance towards the Leader.
  5. At any point, the Leader can yell "Red Light!" and turn around. When this happens, Followers must freeze immediately. Anyone caught moving is out of the round.
  6. The game continues until one of the Followers reaches the Leader without getting caught moving. That person becomes the new Leader.
  7. After each round, take a moment to discuss the importance of listening carefully to verbal cues and rotate roles so everyone has a chance to lead.

Step-up:

  1. Use balloon air to start the destruction: Create three teams, with a table in front of each first-player, On each table, create a pyramid of 10 cups. Each pyramid should be around 15cm from the edge of the table. The three competitors stay in one place, blow into their balloon, hold the air in with their fingertips, and then let the air go while aiming it at the pyramid. You’ll have a few cups fly off the edge of the table.
  1. Refill balloons to clear the table: For any remaining cups, the balloon needs to be inflated again. Repeat the releasing of air until every cup is off the table. The first player with a cup-free table wins!

“Blow that pyramid over!” works fantastically as an office party game or on an occasion like a birthday or special celebration. Enjoy the moment!

How to play Unseen drawing

In the usual variation of this game, you’d divide your team into pairs and ask them to sit back-to-back. You’d then give a pen and paper to one member of each pair and an obscure photo/image/drawing to the other.

From there, whoever has the image must describe what they’re looking at (and/or give verbal instructions) so the person with the paper can draw it.

To complicate matters, the “artist” can’t talk! They simply have to listen to their partner and do their best to recreate the image.

When doing this task as a virtual team, you explain the task as a group, assign the roles of “talker” and “artist”, then break off into separate video calls – with each pair on their own call. For efficiency, you could send emails in advance to set the duos, assign roles, and pass on the images for them to describe.

Each pair has about 10 minutes to complete the task, before swapping roles.

Having completed the game, you hop back onto the group call where everyone compares images and discusses the experience.

What did they learn about the importance of clear communication? What problems arise when they’re vague and imprecise? How could they implement those lessons in their daily work lives?
