Koh Samui stands out for teams that want a tropical island feel without sacrificing comfort or logistics. It combines beach resorts, reliable infrastructure, and a wide range of activities, making it ideal for balancing focused sessions with relaxed downtime.
Most teams fly into Koh Samui Airport (USM), which has direct connections from Bangkok, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Flights from Bangkok take about 1 hour, and transfers to most hotels range from 10 to 30 minutes.
The most favorable period is from December to August, with temperatures between 26–32°C and generally stable weather. October and November tend to be the rainiest months, so schedules may need more flexibility during that time.
Chaweng is ideal for teams that want nightlife and energy, Bophut offers a more relaxed and walkable environment with Fisherman’s Village, and Lamai or Maenam are better suited for quieter, more private retreats.
The island offers a mix of beach, jungle, and marine environments, allowing teams to switch between structured work and outdoor activities easily. This variety creates a more dynamic retreat experience compared to city-based locations.
Common activities include boat trips to Ang Thong National Marine Park, snorkeling, Thai cooking classes, beach Olympics, waterfall hikes, and wellness sessions like yoga or meditation.
A 4 to 5 day retreat is typically the best format. This allows time to recover from travel, run productive sessions, and include several team activities without rushing the experience.
The island offers a wide mix of Thai cuisine, seafood, and international dining. Teams often enjoy beachfront dinners, night markets, and casual evenings at beach clubs or bars.
Seasonality, especially the rainy period in October and November, is important to factor in. Choosing the right area based on team preferences and ensuring smooth flight connections also plays a key role.
Koh Samui offers a more contained and less hectic environment than Phuket, while still providing strong infrastructure. Teams we’ve hosted often prefer it for its balance between accessibility, atmosphere, and ease of planning.

We recently organized our company offsite with SurfOffice, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. This was our second year working with Surf to plan our annual company retreat, and once again, they smashed it. We had a beautiful, restorative and fun retreat just outside of Barcelona that the whole team loved. It was so lovely to have the team's support in planning such a complex event, and they did a great job at helping us stay within budget. Great experience overall.
