The city combines Adriatic sea views, a compact historic center, and enough hospitality infrastructure to support a polished company retreat in Dubrovnik without losing the sense of being somewhere special. It stands out most for teams that want remote-team focus plus memorable scenery rather than a purely resort-based setup.
Most groups fly into Dubrovnik Airport, also known as DBV, and then continue into the city by pre-booked transfer, taxi, or shuttle. For a corporate offsite in Dubrovnik, airport logistics are usually simple because the airport is set up for international arrivals and the city is already a major visitor and business destination.
Late spring and early autumn usually give teams the best balance. May to June and September to October are especially attractive because the weather is warm enough for boat trips and outdoor dinners, while the city is generally easier to manage than at peak summer intensity. Dubrovnik’s tourism bodies also position the city as a destination that works well from spring into autumn, with quieter periods offering a different pace.
Old Town works well for teams that want history and walkability right outside the door. Ploče is a strong choice for higher-end stays with sea views close to the center, while Lapad and Babin Kuk usually suit groups that want a more relaxed base with larger hotels and easier coach access. The right area depends on whether your team retreat in Dubrovnik is meant to feel more atmospheric, more practical, or more resort-like.
Dubrovnik feels more dramatic and self-contained than most coastal cities in Croatia. The walled city, steep sea-facing setting, and strong international reputation give it a more iconic feel than many alternatives, while the surrounding region still allows island trips, coastal dinners, and outdoor activities. That mix makes a company offsite in Dubrovnik feel both polished and memorable.
There is a lot of range here. Teams often choose sea kayaking, sailing, ATV or buggy experiences, cycling, diving, hiking, wine-focused outings, and guided city activities. Official regional activity listings also highlight options like sailing, hiking, diving, cycling, water sports, and buggy safaris, which gives teams a good mix of active and cultural programming.
A 3 to 4 day format is usually the sweet spot. That gives enough room for arrivals, structured work sessions, one standout group activity such as a boat day or kayaking block, and at least one slower social evening without making the schedule feel overbuilt. In our experience, Dubrovnik works best when the agenda leaves time to enjoy the setting rather than packing every hour.
The biggest factor is seasonality. Summer is beautiful but busier, hotter, and more expensive, so restaurants, boats, and larger group services should be booked early. It also helps to choose accommodation carefully, because some parts of Dubrovnik are better for walkability while others are better for larger groups and easier transfers.
Teams can build a strong social program around fresh seafood, Dalmatian dishes, wine bars, terrace dinners, and group meals inside or just outside the Old Town. A Dubrovnik team retreat tends to work particularly well for evening planning because the city naturally lends itself to memorable dinners rather than generic group meals.
It can work for both, but the format changes. Smaller teams often get more out of boutique hotels or villa-style setups with a more intimate feel, while larger groups usually benefit from full-service hotels in Lapad, Babin Kuk, or similar areas where transport and meeting flow are easier. The city has the tourism maturity to support both styles, but early planning matters more for larger groups.

Romane LeBrec-Foulatier was a fantastic partner in planning this event. She did a wonderful job of introducing the planning project via Coda and then was extremely helpful and conscientious in helping us plan toward the event. I always felt that I could depend on her follow-up and she was clear and articulate in her guidance. She was also proactive in flagging items that needed extra consideration or in raising potential issues with the schedule or venue or planning. We really loved the Coda site that she created to for planning and also the Coda dashboard that we shared with the team; the team found it very helpful as well. Lastly, Romane was critical in helping on our last day in France when the taxi drivers were on strike - she very quickly implemented a contingency plan and helped us communicate it to the team through the Coda site. Similarly. Álvaro Pérez-Segnini was very helpful in helping us choose the Chantilly location. He understood the parameters of the offsite and got back to us with multiple proposals in a limited time frame. He helped us understand which option would be the best for us and he helped us negotiate the best space and the best price.
